Have you even dreamt about having an Olympic medal draped around your neck? Well, some folks from Appomattox experienced just that at the state Olympic Games held recently in Roanoke. The Coventry Commonwealth Games has a competition category for just about anyone interested in participating. It is a great way to showcase the talents of both young and old. The Appomattox 4-H Shooting Education Club competed in the International and Progressive Air Pistol, BB, and Sporting Clays events. The BB team placed 1st and each individual placed. Alex Pearce placed first, Mallory Baldwin placed second, and Colin Huband placed 3rd. For the Progressive Air Pistol event, Alex Pearce placed 2nd, Kate Tillotson placed 3rd, and Colin Huband placed 4th. The International Air Pistol event had Will Pearce place 2nd , and Robert Tillotson place 4th in the men's division. Bonnie Tillotson placed 1st in the woman's division. The Sporting Clays event had Trevor Baldwin placing 2nd and Tyler Scruggs placing 3rd in the junior division. Braxton Elliott placed 1st and Dave Sandman placed 3rd in E Class. Jaye Pearce placed 2nd in Hunters C Class. Also participating in the event were Nick Baldwin, William Elliott, Regan Osburn, Will Pearce, and Robert Tillotson.
